I like using them as well. The only drawback I have found is they bend easily. And when you poke yourself with one of them you know it. I pick them up at super good sales when I can find them. One time I was at a quilt class and another quilter did not bring pins, we did not need many, but the lady lending them asked for them back. I guess they are pricey or can be, I was a little surprised.

Flat head pins were recommended for a Stack & Whack class I took years ago. I loved them and have used them ever since. The reason they were recommended was you can pin the fabric layers together and still lay your acrylic ruler on top of them to rotary cut. Of course you do have to make sure to keep the pins back from the edge you are cutting. Mine also don't melt if the iron gets too close. The machine sounds funny when you stitch through a flower but it didn't break the needle or hurt my Bernina. Whew!

I bought some with a yellow flower head. I don't know what brand they were, but they are about as thick as a nail and not sharp at all. I got them for me DGD's sewing kit. I think the whole sewing machine would break if you sewed over them.The one's I have seen advertised are quite expensive. Some are $4.00 for 100, so I think I would be asking for them back too.

I've only melted one so far and it was some that I got at Walmart...but....I had not seen the pin and I had my iron sitting on it longer then I should have. You will like them.
