Default flip-n-cut magic templates-have you tried them?

Weird, I thought I had posted this question but can't find it.

http://www.ericas.com/quilting/tools/templates.htm

I was at Joanns recently and saw them. With the sales this weekend, I'm thinking of buying a set or 2, they look cool in a way but in a way they seem too tedious.

Have you seen them demo'd anywere? Have you bought them? Which set do you like best?

I've always wondered about these as well. So I will be watching this thread. Ive never seen "how" they are intended to be used.

I've been searching this morning and so far this is the only site that uses them in a pattern.

I just looked at them - they do look interesting. Tried to find a video of someone using them but no luck. If you just use them to draw an outline then cut with scissors, any template will do. Wanted to see if you can actually cut around the shapes somehow but that looks a bit hazardous for a rotary cutter. Any opinions out there???

The price is good if you want to make a lot of shapes to applique. I think you could do the same with a piece of cardboard folded in half with a simple flower shape drawn and cut out but if you don't want to be bothered drawing them out, then the templates would be good. It looks by the moda bakeshop sample that you trace and then cut out with scissors. Great tutorial on them at that site, by the way. Thx charity-crafter!

I looked at them today again. Almost bought a set, but just couldn't bring myself to do it. I agree, a piece of cardboard would do the trick also since it's just tracing and cutting out with scissors.

I bought a book "String Quilt Revival" but after I got home and really looked at it, I think I'll return it. It looks like Bonnie's Quiltville and Mary's string quilt ideas. Nothing really original.

I get too excited about coupons and sales. I did pick up several rulers-6.5" EZ angle, tri-rec ruler, companion angle and the easy circle cut.

I bought all three sets. I suspect that we will all know why they were 50% off, but with the additional 20% off coupon I had, who could resist? If I don't like them, maybe one of my secret pal swap members will!

I'd be tempted at that price too. Please post photos of what you make, I'd love to see.
