Default FM going great...going bad!

I started FM a full size quilt Sunday evening for an hour or two, things went pretty good. Came home tonite after work and did a bit more...things gone well so far. then later tonite went back in after supper then everything started going bad, broke the needle, twice...ran out of bobbin thread so quickly? again?. starting to get eyelashes...tiny but there....ok, stop, rip this out, can't have any eyelashes, even if they are small,....started again....lightening not so good tonite, made a mental note to improve that..think I have too much lint, got to stop out clean out...ok,,I got to slow down my speed tooo. ok just stop for tonite I told myself..grrrr. another 30 minutes and I would of been finished. Morale of my story, when your tired and getting in a hurry, stop! Go no futher! Save it for another day!

I agree totally! I wanted to get two quilts bound today...first went well...thought the 2nd did also...shoot...didn't catch several inches of binding on the front of the quilt...had to rip out two feet of stitches to fix it...ugh!

You're right! I learned that lesson too. I have more problems when I am tired and I want to cut.

Mee tooo!!!! thankyou!! Now I feel better! I know not to sew when tired too! at least I should given how many times i've messed up! I was trying to finish a recliner size quilt with foot pocket for a friend who has cancer. Her feet stay cold hanging of the end of the recliner. she's very tall. I'll just have to finish tommorow or day after.

I've learned this the hard way - or I should have done by now. I've just had to rip out lots of FMQ on a border beecause the backing got folded over underneath. It was "I'll just finish this and then it's done". No, it's not, if you have to spend hours unpicking and then redoing! "I'll just..." at the end of the session is a warning sign that I should stop, NOW.

I totally agree too. Kind of like quitting while you are ahead. If I get passed a certain point I start making mistakes and then I get upset and then things really go to heck.

Know what you mean. Don't know why we do it as it makes more work just when we're too tired and frustrated. Better luck on another day.

Your'e right, I don't know why we do it, it is hard to make yourself stop, when you are wanting to get it done. It certainly is best to just stop. I found out the hard way too many times.

this is so true. it takes more time to rip out the mistakes than to fit the sewing in when you are more rested.
