Thread: folded flower trivet

Looking for a 'tute' on how to fold fabric and place it around the square to make a potholder. I know you stitch through the center corner to corner, but I can't figure out how it goes.

It's been around for a while. I've seen them especially within the Amish community. It folded parts make the center star and the other folded parts made the border. I'm sure someone has seen them.
