I am often not at home at this time so there are very few shows that I do watch. But this Thurs. I will be home for we need a repair to our well and I am afraid that it will be big bucks. So, I will have less money to spend on fabric.
You all are going to have to do jumping jacks or something while that show is on:)LOL Skeat....who only gets Nancy and Fons on Sat mornings...that is it:)

Lately when I have a chance to watch Fons and Porter, I have found the show to be very boring and not to my liking. That being said, I have dozens of VHS tapes of their older shows, that I absolutely loved and learned a lot from them.
But now it seems they are promoting more the use of the new Bernina 830 machine and doing the embroidery stuff with it than actual quilting. At least that is the shows my pbs station has been airing.
Their magazine isn't what it used to be either. Have been a subscriber since issue #1... but not sure I will renew this next year unless something drastic happens.

skeat-

used to get nancy, quilt in a day, etc on saturday a.m.

now i get sue hausman , sew with nancy, fons and porter, martha's sewing room and a show called quilting arts with a blond lady whose name i naver remember. they're on every day at 3. same station, alternating days. qiad is on every thursday at (gasp) midnight-ish.different station - rfdtv. EVERYTHING gets memorized on my cd player, which works like FIOS and hold 100 hours. when i remember i skim through, watch what looks good, throw out the rest and let the machine take over til next time. cool.

p.s. also used to get simply quilts with alex anderson. kiss that off.

It seems I am a minority because I like Fons and Porter. I record them and Sewing with Nancy and watch when I get time and have several saved. I like how they work well together and when they differ on a technique they will explain the others view. I used to get America Sews with Sue and she drove me nuts! Im jealous of you that get other shows. Another one I used to get was one with Mlissa or something like that. I miss Simply Quilts, loved that one. Wish there was a channel dedicated just for quilting shows, Id pay extra for it!!

You're not a minority, I watch them too. I DVR, Quilting Arts, Quilt in a Day, Fons and Porter and America Quilts Creatively. I replay them while eating dinner or when I first get home from work to wind down. Often times I will turn it on as I get in the bed to wind down.

i think that what you can get depends on what part of the country you're in compared to where the show is coming out of. they all run on pbs stations.

before i had dish network i couldn't get anything at all. i'm in central east coast and none of my local pbs stations carried those shows, except channel 21, which was very fuzzy before dish.

I love my DVR and record the few quilting shows still on the air.
If you get the RFD channel they show Quilt in a Day with Eleanor Burns.
I get it on Direct TV.
Mostly I watch all the shows except Simply Quilts on line. She went in with Ricky Tims on a web site that is very expensive.
You will need to have high speed internet. Qnntv costs 24 dollars a year which is not bad considering all the quilt shows they have and full screen also.
http://quilterstv.com is free and they have quite a few shows.
