Since just finishing reading a topic about fmq, I want to know how does everyone handle the overflow spray when you spray baste. Do you hang your quilt or lay it to spray it? Do you put newspaper all over to catch the spray or what do you do?

If I'm doing it on the floor or on a kitchen island, I lay down the largest flat sheet I can find first. (I don't find this necessary when working on large tables.) It's easy to toss the sheet into the laundry bin afterwards.

One tip is to spray from the outside towards the center to minimize overspray.

I bought 2 cheap vinyl tablecloths & tape them to my dining room table. I use newspaper on the floor if necessary. This has worked great for me!

I have a old sheet that I use just for spray basting. For smaller projects I have and old bath sheet size towel.

i have JoAnn's folding table and use that. i usually don't have any over spray. i just spray an area at a time, across and down and move over and spray and move and spray. sort of like using hair spray.

I have not had any overspray. Maybe I'm standing too close? I spray baste either using Joann's cutting/folding table or recently my California King bed. I do protect the table or bed with covers but no issues with overspray. I do spray one medium sized section at a time though. Never the whole thing at once.

I have a king size bed and use an old flat sheet to protect it while I do my spray basting. I keep it just for that and pull it out whenever I need it. I refuse to get down on the floor anymore and don't have wall space or a design wall. Just remember....a little bit goes a long way!
