I just need to growl here. I bought some heavy gauge vinyl at Joann's today to make free motion quilting easier. I cut it to fit the extension table that comes with my machine. But when I start to FMQ it keeps getting caught in the edge. Of course stupid me I did not do too much practice before I started the quilting on this quilt. Now it looks like hell. Jagged circles and all. I just needed to vent. Thanks

Can you tape it down so it doesn't move?

I've used wax paper before...Takes a little bit of prep, cutting out where the feed dogs are and taping down to your machine, but your fabric will glide and slide with ease....Good Luck!

I have found that many times when I try to cut corners (and not the corners of the vinyl) it backfires.......the saying is true - praceice, practice, and practice before beginning the real thing...even if you are experienced.

I make loops of painters tape to hold the vinyl in place on my machine. i have a big enough piece of vinyl that it overhangs my sewing table(I don't have an ext. table)and i tape the edges to the table. So far not too much shifting.

You really do get what you pay for. The Super Slider is really worth the money.

I bought one of those silicone mats and it was well worth the money IMO.

I tried the super slider, and the silcone mats and I find, it is just easier to work with what you got. I would not advise anyone to spend their hard earned money on those, knowing I wasted mine. That however is my opinion for what it is worth. I found that doing FM on my singer 15 is wonderful, I don't need anything special with that!
