I just took a major step and FMQ'd my first time. I was making a baby quilt (36x36) for a charity project and decided after 3 years and numerous observations to try and FMQ. I DID IT! Yahoo! I was scared to death. Did not it want to look ugly and actually it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I concentrated more on my stitch lenghts and trying to get things pretty even than on the pattern. I know it probably sounds nuts but I was really proud that I finally attempted it. One of the ladies in my quilt guild spurred me on by suggesting to us that we make the charity quilts and use them to practice on. I guess a little baby won't notice the mistakes.

FMQ is definitely intimidating until you get used to it.

Great, I wish more piecers would give it a go. They would learn that it isn't as bad as they think.

Congratulations on staring that dragon in the face! It's always the most intimidating to take those first few stiches!

Most people probably criticize their work while someone else thinks its lovely, Ive noticed that about things i have given as gifts and can see lots of mistakes, they don't know unless you tell them
