Free Quilt Software?

Free Quilt Software?
Is there a reasonably good FREE Quilt software program that will help me with designing a basic quilt?? I want to incorporate embroidered blocks with pieced blocks. I would like to see how it might look before cutting and embroidering everything.
If I could even print out the pieced block I would like to use, I could lay that out with my embroidery templates to see if it would work.
Thank you for any information

I have never heard of any free software. There is a less expensive program by Electric Quilt called Quilt Design Wizard that I saw for sale at JAF. Here is a copy for sale on on eBay:

I have version 7 of EQ and I use it almost ever day.

This site has a tutorial on designing with Gimp. Gimp is an open source app like Photoshop. It works on all OS, including Windows.

http://www.sharewareconnection.com/ You might do a search here..it is where I got a free viewer software for my embroidery designs a long time ago, before I bought my EmbrillianceThumbnailer. Lots of free programs on many subjects--I once had a quilting software site that was free, but never D/L'd it, eventually deleted in clean up. Have you Googled 'quilt design programs-free' ?

and w the internet services of so many professional quilters like jinny beyer, you really don't need software anymore. go to jinnys website and click on "design" board. great little program for setting blocks from her extensive block library and then choosing colors. eq is nice in that you can import your fabrics and see exactly what your quilt will look like w your desired prints & colors, but i just use the existent examples. for me it's working out the math & size details and printing accurated templates/patterns.
