    Default Frustration with block letters

I need your skilled artists eyes to help me figure out how to fix this quilt. There are two problem areas that I see, both at the bottom of the U. The right side I believe I have figured out how to fix, but the left has me stymied. I have double checked and my quilt matches the pattern, but the perspective just isn't right. Does anyone else see the problems or is it just me? DH is of no assistance, so I am asking all of you! Thanks in advance as I know someone out there will have the fix for me.

This is so hard to describe....where the horizontal line of the U comes across to the right and angles up, I am going to change the HST that is red/wine to red/cream, the next square to the right needs to be all cream, and the next square up that is all wine needs to be wine/cream. I hope I explained that well enough.

if the light is coming from the top left corner, then there needs to be some shadows on the 'roofs' of the bottom row of units.

It looks like the left part of the U is in front of the I and the right part of the U is behind it. I think the designer managed to torque the shapes so much that they won't look realistic, but anyone from Indiana would know what it is anyway. (I didn't know - but I figured it out.) Looks kind of Escher-esque to me.

I would try rotating that HST. 90 degrees to the right. Or it might just need to be all the light color. I would make a duplicate HST and try different orientations before taking it all apart.

    This isn't the best drawing.

It should be more like this for the shading to be correct.
Apologies for the bad drawing and writing.

Well if you can't figure it out and decide you don't like it, send it to me. My dd is an IU graduate and would love to have it. I'm not good with visual dimensions such as you describe. Sorry, but it looks great to me.
