I saw a thread the other day where someone was wondering where Liz was. Is she sick or where did she go? SOoooo, I email the Fons and Porter web site and asked. This is the response I just got:

"Liz decided this year to step down and retire. She is moving to Texas, and will be spending time with family and travelling. We will miss her, but she enjoying life and family."

Just thought I'd pass the info along.

Is it true that she had a big fire a while ago that destroyed most of her quilts?

Oh, this will be different. I hope she is still a small part of the magazine and all. What a shock. I will have to watch and see what I hear too. I hope if she did retire, she enjoys her personal life. She brought lots of happy quilting hours to ours.

That's too bad.
But I can understand her wanting to have more free time while she's still young and healthy enough to enjoy it.
I wonder what they'll call the new quilt series?
Thanks for the info.

My new Fons & Porter magazine came yesterday and it has an ad for the new 1600 series of shows with Mary Ann and her daughter Mary.

They must not have officially announced it yet. I checked the website and a quilt cruise coming up.
The cruise says "Marianne Fons and her daughter.....", it doesn't mention Liz.
The website still has Liz's photo in spots and no mention of her retiring, etc.

Happy for Liz sad for those of us who enjoy Fons and Porter. They worked so well together.
