Today, I traveled 100 miles to my Walmart. I figure it's a small dept, I would get some odds and ends. Well, there must have been about 30 people all going through 2 large bins of bolt material I would have to say about 3 yards for $5.00. My DH said "Look". So I elbowed my way in, and found lots of fabric, mainly stretch knits, but, nothing I would use for quilting.
I then proceeded to walk the one of 2 isles dedicated to sewing, and crafts and I see. New Fabric not even opened. I was shocked. Does this mean it is not the end of the small fabric dept in WalMart?

I sure hope Walmart will change their minds and continue to carry fabric. Sometimes it's the only source available for me and the friend we travel with. Especially if we have small items in mind. Like cell phone bags, etc. My friend loves to sew and donates the majority of what she makes. So buying less expensive fabric, she can donate more. She just donated 19 pillow cases to "millions of pillow cases" project.

I hope yours decides to keep the fabric. I can't even find fat quarters in mine anymore. Sigh

I've saw other posts on here about Walmart putting out 5 yard bolts of fabric for $5, maybe that was them?

I'm going to check my WM today and see if they have them.

I was at a local wal-mart yesterday; they have 2 yard pre-cuts for $7, $5, and fq for $1. No 5 yd bolts; they had never heard of them. Hopefully, they will get the fabric back; they don't need all those fake flowers.

Ours hasn't had fabric in awhile either!
WHO buys those flowers?
or all the cake decorating supplies?

It's a shame what Walmart is doing to their customers - all in the name of money. I've been told that they didn't want to have to hire a "specialist" - a person who knows how to measure and cut fabric.
They're kits are not the kind of material I would purchase - the fabric is stiff and heavy.

I saw bolts of fabric, some holiday, unopened on the shelves yesterday. Looks like the one close to me will be staying open. They had the precuts but lots of new bolts!

Just want to clarify something - the KITS I did not like; I do purchase Walmart fabric as well as thru quilt stores.
