In today's NYTimes there is an article about an edgy quilter, inspired by heavy metal music ? etc. Her comment about the value of our work (last paragraph) is worth repeating. Her name is Boo Davis and she has a book coming out. From Seattle.

Thanks, Dotty. Here is a link to the article for those who don't get the NYT.

I really do like the last paragraph and agree with her 100%.

Thank you for posting this! She is cool!

I love a lot of the 80's bands she mentioned. And I love seeing quilters looked at as the creative artists they are!

A lot of people have this preconceived notion that we are all cookie baking, grey haired 80 year old grandmothers and thats just not true. Not that there's anything wrong with being an 80 year old cookie baking grandma, they are the best! LOL! But, its wrong that quilters are seen as .....I don't know the word I'm looking for......."matronly" maybe?

We are all types! We are all wonderful, different, creative ARTISTS! And I love anything that celebrates that! There is a place for all of us, from traditional classic to modern funky.

"I think the quilt makers of the world need to rise up and start throwing elbows."

    That's great.

The new generations will certainly turn things to their liking. Interesting...I don't necessarly like it but I'm sure plenty of people will.
