Default Ghost in the machine

So yesterday my machine kept sewing when i took my foot off the pedal and someone on this boatd suggested taking the pedal apart and cleaning it. This morning i figured i'd go ahead and clean the machine before i tackled the pedal. I had the bobbin out and was taking the shuttle race out when the dang machine started sewing. Note to self...turn machine off when cleaning. Luckily it missed my fingers. Next the foot pedal...upon examination, i find it won't come apart. So i gathered up a big breath and blew like crazy into it. Well, whatever it was, that did the trick...no more ghost in the machine. I quilted a whole quilt today with no more problems.

I glad for you on many counts. 1) your finger didn't get nicked 2) you fixed the problem (who knew?) and 3) you got to SEW!!!

Glad you didn't get your fingers sewn and that you got the foot pedal cleaned out!

Glad you didn't get sewn! There are times when I know the power should be shut off and I don't do it. This is a good reminder.

Thanks for posting your experience - it's a good reminder to unplug stuff before we start poking around in it. Every time I stick my hand in the garbage disposal I think "oops, should have unplugged rather than just shut it off".

Did you say "Boooo" as you were blowing?
Glad it was a simple fix and you continued on sewing; that's the important part.

I supose I should clean my machine pedal since I don't recall ever doing so. Thanks for pointing this out before the ghost comes my way.

I used to have this problem of the machine running without my help. But, my problem was my dog! He liked lying down by my feet and sometimes he would lay right on top of the pedal!

Glad you solved your problem - never would have thought of cleaning the pedal.
