I NEED a new rotary cutter, not a want, a TRUE NEED. lol

I have been looking at the Gingher one, however I am really not fond of the price 69.99. I am sure I could get it with a coupon (50%?) or right now they are on sale at Joanns for 48.99 (30% off). Even with a 50% off coupon they would still be about 35.00.

I was just wondering if anyone had one?
Do you like it?
Do you HAVE to use the Gingher blades in it?

I love my other Gingher products so I don't know why I am second guessing the cutter but....
I like the blade to come out of the "side" or underneith the cutter instead of the "top" of the cutter and it seems as if more and more co. are making their cutter with the blade come out of the end, like the Olfa cutters!

How about Fiskars? I have one and love it. It has an ergonomic handle and the blade comes out the side like you want.

I got one on e-bay for around 20 dollars.

I like my Olfa cutters (both the ergonomic and earlier ones) better.

I think one does need the special blades - but not sure about that.

HMMMM I was just on the Gingher website milling around and at the VERY bottom of the page in LITTLE letter it says VISIT FISKARS.COM. Does Gingher make Fiskars? or how are they associated?

I have nothing against Fiskars cutters or scissors I just seem to break them offten! The last two the button/handle to "open and close" them broke and they were stuck open 99% of the time.

I looked at them longingly for a long time too. Then one day I had a 50% off coupon and they weren't on sale so I got one. OMG!! Why did I wait so long!!! I looooooove the Gingher rotary cutter!! So everytime I had a 50% off coupon I bought blades.

I think Fiskars own Ginghers
If you're going to use other blades than Ginghers (I've never seen them), it seems pointless to spend extra money for the cutter.

I would like to know why the Gingher rotary cutter is so expensive? I just can not justify the cost.
