I have read alot about glue basting here. But was wondering if any of you have glue basted when using the poly batting? What would hold better spray or the glue?
I always use spray and haven't tried the glue yet.

Are you referring to putting the quilt sandwich together? I thought glue basting was used for applique -- e.g., glue basting the edges of an applique under prior to sewing, or glue basting the applique piece on the background (instead of pinning).

I've only used basting spray to make the quilt sandwich.

I use glue basting for a variety of things, applique, binding, piecing (matching up intersections)
I did try it on cotton batting on a small sample for sandwiching and was not at all pleased with the results.
I don't think it would work well at all on poly batting, because you heat set it with an iron and the heat would flatten out the poly

I was wondering if the glue dots would work on batting. I'm going to buy some an give it a try.

I have also been looking into trying this, but have a different question in mind. Where do you get the special needle tip that you would need for the glue to make tiny dots.

You can buy them online from Sharon Schamber's dd's website:
https://www.purpledaisiesllc.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=69]https://www.purpledaisiesllc.com/cgi...=action&key=69[/url]
but they are a lot less expensive if you can find them at Michael's. At Michael's, I think they are in the acrylic paint section of the store. JoAnn Fabrics online might have them too; look for glue bottle. You can also Google: I have seen them sold on craft sites.

You can also do what Sharon Schamber did at first -- unscrew the tip of a mechanical pencil and screw it onto the glue nozzle.

I have never seen glue used for basting a quilt sandwich. I see no advantage to using it over spray basting.

Thanks everyone. I guess when I read the thread before I must have misunderstood what the glue was used for.
