I am getting ready to put on my borders and need to square up my quilt. Is there an easy way to do this? My table isn't big enough to fit the whole quilt and the ruler isn't long enough. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

I use my 12x12 1/2" to check the corners are squared up.

Fold the quilt in half vertically to see if both sides are equal.

Fold the quilt in half horizontally to see if both sides are equal.

I work on the floor if quilt is bigger than my big board or table.

How do you measure for your borders?

If not using a pattern that gives measurements for borders, I use a tape measure & measured top to bottom in several places while top is still folded in half vertically. Make the side borders an average of these measurements.

Then after borders are added on sides, fold horizontally & & take several measurements to get an average for horizontal borders.

I do this also. I also use upholstery pins to anchor the quilt top to the carpet. If anything needs to be blocked it is easy to do this way. You can easily put a sheet under it to avoid misting the carpet also.

Thanks everyone.. My sides were uneven because of the triangles but I got it as even as I could. I usually don't have this much trouble but when ever do a quilt that's on point I have this problem.
