I accidently ironed over some printing on a T-Shirt. Also, I often get goo from steam-a-seam. What is the best way to clean an iron?

Get some hot-iron cleaner and follow directions on the label. The cleaner I use is a paste, comes in a tube. It works really well.

same way my beautician taught me how to clean a sticky curling iron.

HOT setting, and spray Windex. Very wet, make sure you do this over a sink. It will steam and drain away! no scrubbing! Works like a charm !

Good luck !

My ex-husband was a chemist. His recommendation was always acetone (nail polish remover) and a cotton ball. I know it works great on getting off the sticky residue that labels leave behind. I would imagine it would work on the plate of your iron.

I just removed a repair label a business put on my sewing machine over 20 years ago. I first tried Goo-Be-Gone and it didn't do anything. I then got my nail polish remover and off the sticky came.

The thing is, your nail polish remover must be acetone, not a synthetic.

Magic Eraser or a trip to Walmart to buy a new one. I always keep a super cheap one around for doing applique because I am always gettin that stuff on it even with a teflon sheet.

I usually run the dirty hot iron over a USED dryer sheet ot two. Most of the time the gunk comes off.

"Iron-Off" You can get it at Jo-Ann's on the notion wall. It's in a tube. Works great, but make sure you have plenty of ventilation. It smells something fierce.
