The Great Darning Foot Hunt is a continuing quest of one lone quilters search for the perfect darning foot (or realy anything that fits the adventurer's machine). The quest has covered miles of territory and countless web pages. It has been a long and frustrating road. Will you be the one to pull the sword from the stone and rescue this weary traveler? To be victorious we must locate an item the Brother website refuses to acknowledge ... a Darning Foot that fits the Brother LX-3125E (aka, the cheep but fun Fashion Faces). This is one quilter that will not rest until it is possible to perform the delicate dance of Free motion quilting on this inexpensive machine.


(seriously, anybody know where I can get a darning foot to fit the LX-3125E? I can find a walking foot, a 1/4 in foot, zipper ect. but nothing that would work for free motion.)

I have a big universal plastic hopping foot for FMQ that I got from Nancys Notions and darned if I can remember what it's called. They sell generic machine feet for high, low, and slant shanks. Might give them a try.

I was wondering if you could use a spring needle with the thinking you wouldn't need to use a foot...

I have used one on my Pfaff just to try it out and you are not limited visually plus it worked without a foot.

They make different needles sizes to fit your machine so you might find it would work out well for you. I am not familiar with your machine but you might try and see if this would work for you if you find no other choices.

I bought mine off Amazon for $3 and it works great (once I sliced off the weird poky arm on the top and opened the foot with pliers).

I believe that is the one I use on my cheapy Brother XR-52. I also use the big foot and an offset foot. Any one for a short shank should work.

Thanks! I found the big foot on Nacys Notions, when I get home I will check my manual to see is if I need a high or low shank type. Thanks!

Why won't a short shank darning foot work? Those are easy to find. Other than a Bernina, I thought all machines use either a short shank, a long shank or a slant shank, all of which are readily available.

I'm new to all of this. When I looked at the Brother website, I didn't see anything listed as an accessory for my specific mashine. I looked at the brother foots and none of them had my mashine listed as compatable. But I guess that doesn't really matter and they are more interchangeable than I originally thought.
