Great Pressing Tip

I have to share this.... When pressing an intersection open where 4 or more seams intersect, dip your finger in water and put a drop at the point where all the seams meet (while holding the seam open) and then press the seam open. I used this tip on 4 patch blocks today and it worked so well that I dug out a few UFOs that had already been pressed in one direction and repressed them with open seams. I usually overpress everything and sometimes I scorch stuff....I want it to lay flat! I won't be scorching my blocks anymore thanks to this tip ! :) :) :) :)

This is a great idea. You might also, after you lift the iron, lay an "old" square ruler on the seam and put a weight on it until it cools off. If you have a lot of points that come together, this will also help them to lay flat.

Good tip. I use a clapper and it works great for all seams and only takes a few seconds. I was skeptical at first but the LQS owner insisted I buy one. Now I don't press seams without it. June Tailor brand use to be easy to find but I haven't seen any lately.

I tried the drop of water last night and it worked wonderfully!!! Thank You!!!
I have heard that a clapper is very helpful when ironing seams open, I did not know that you could use one for pressing seams to the side, too.
