Thanks for the info I'll try the machine stitching first unless I chicken out and just to it all by hand! The kids can always use a 50th anniversary wedding quilt!

I would recommend machine quilting first. Along with the others I agree that it will help to stabilize the majority of the quilt,before you do the hand quilting. the key is to remember, even amounts of quilting throughout the quilt, whether by machine or hand, enables a smooth finish and adds longevity to your work. :)

I would do a combination so that you don't get puckers. I would do a four block square in the middle, then work out from there....IF it was me........lol lol
