    Hand quilters

Does anyone know of a hand quilting group in North Carolina? The only quilds I can find are for machine quilters. I joined one group for a year but it wasn't what I needed. The ladies were wonderful and very friendly but everything was geared to machine users; i.e. the best machine for appliques, embroidery, etc. Also the special classes were also geared to the machine; i.e. the best thread and best place to buy machine thread, the best machines for appliqueing, etc. I'm not necessarily looking for an established guild as much as I am for a southern NC or northern SC for a group of ladies who also do their piecing and quilting by hand. Anyone know of a group like this ?

OK I Googled and there are numerous guilds and bees. You could also check quilt shops to see who they know

Besides checking with Google, look for local churches and senior centers.

All the guilds I have joined welcome both hand and machine quilters. I'm surprised to hear that the guilds in your area would not embrace both, especially since many quilters enjoy doing both activities.

My guild did not have any hand quilters, and when I joined they were thrilled because when they were making the Project Linus quilts I was the only one that really enjoyed putting the labels on my hand and even closing the end of the quilts they birthed. Another lady in the guild started doing some hand quilting, she had forgotten how relaxing it could be.
