I use the cheap wooden round hoops (about 14") available at JoAnns. Don't have issues with slippage or re-tightening as I work. I've used these from crib to king size. I'm on my 2nd one in about 10+ years. Since they are as cheap as they are and work for me, I have no need/desire for a high dollar hoop.

I am lucky to have a Buhoogee rectangle hand quilt hoop. there is a groove around the outside and a bungee cord fits into the groove. The cord is adjustable with a cleat. It's top quality, easy to use and gentle on your quilt. They aren't made anymore as each one was hand shaped. I see them on Ebay sometimes.

Do you have the black plastic one or the wood one? Considering a Grace hoop myself.

I have two wooden floor hoops. One is square and the other round. They are both probably 40" across. They are adjustable both up and down and side to side. I have one upstairs and one down. Anything to small for them I quilt on a plastic snap frame. I have done up to a kingsize quilt on both of them. I do own a floor frame that is probably at least six feet long but haven't used it in several years. When I use it I sit in a rolling office chair so I can move up and down the length of it without getting up. I think I paid somewhere between 100 and 200 dollars for my standing frames. At least one of them I purchased from Grace. I have had them for years so I don't remember. They allow me to watch TV or socialize with others while I get my quilting done.

I purchased an Ulmer quilt floor frame. It is made of wood. It comes assembled and is extremely sturdy. Cost is $199.00 that includes shipping. It folds down to 6" making it great to slide under a bed when not in use. I strongly recommend you check out this fantastic floor quilt frame!!
