I have finished a top and started basting it for my first hand quilting project. My husband's grandmother also hand quilts, and I am going to ask her for advice on it but she is sometimes not very good at explaining, so I would also like to have someone here on the board to ask questions of via PM as I continue the process, because I know I will have a lot of questions.

Thank you!

Of course I would be pleased to help you but I am not a native speaker and sometimes it is difficult for me to explain something in English. You could always ask your questions here on the board, I am sure there are many hand quilters who have tipps and tricks for you.

Oh please don't go to private messages? Surely, there are many of us who would love to be part of this "conversation?" Sometimes I don't think of the questions to ask and you might!
And to "borntohandquilt," even if your words are not correct, we'll certainly be able to discern their meaning?
I'm hoping to stay in this conversation!!

I hope you stay in the forum and not go to PM, too. I have SO much to learn!

Well, I was hoping not to clutter up the board with a lot of little silly questions, but if others would be interested, I guess I can make post my questions on the main board.

Thank you, Butterflyblue! You can be sure: there are no silly questions. We can all learn from each other.

Of course we'd all like to be a part of the conversation! Quilter's are like that -- we love to share -- everything! I found the best way to learn is to find a local quilt group that will accept "newbies" (not all do & some can be rather snobby), but there's so much to learn from the ladies "hand on". I joined a hand-quilting group over 7 yrs ago & these ladies are like family now! About half are older - 70 - 90 yrs old & have so much to share w/ those of us who are younger. Good luck!
