    If your log fabric is printed design (vs plain) IMHO, I wouldn't spend the time hand quilting it, as you won't really see it. What kind of batting are you using? Most commercial bats need quilting every 8-10 inches now, as the quality has improved. Use thread made for hand quilting or machine quilting. Even with beeswax/thread heaven on a 50wt cotton (Connecting Threads), it will have a tendency to knot, and you won't see it well, even on plain fabric. It is meant for piecing.
