Handi Quilter class
This evening I went to our LQS and took a class on the basics of FMQing on FMQing. WOW is about all I can say! It was so imformative and the instructor was just great! Her name was Debby Brown from Handi Quilter and she was just so great. Of course I have never been to a class before so maybe it was just a big deal to me. lol.. I learned so much and cannot wait to try out the techniques I learned.
Up to this point in my quilting I have taught myself everything I know pretty much by trial and error. I will definetly take another class after this one.
If you get a chance to attend one of her classes I would highly reccomend it. Her work is simply beautiful.
Sorry just had to tell someone how excited I am about what I learned . lol..

Sounds like you had a great time! Which model do you have? I tried out the HQ Sweet 16 at a quilt show and loved it! It would probably be the only thing I could fit in my house (if I ever get my room back). I loved how much visibility I had around the needle. So much better than on a domestic machine.

Gee, that sounds like just what I need. My dealer moved the week before she set up my HQ Avante 18, so I was alone on the learning curve too. I do OK, but knowing more than what I've learned on U-Tube would be helpful. I'll try to keep an eye out on the big cities near me for a class. Please share some of your work with the tips that go with them.

Hi, I got the Pro Stitcher HQ Avante 18 and had about 8 hours of "training" (actually I stood there while the tech guy explained everything) Haven't touched it since. Scares me to death. I'll contact my dealer and see if I can take some classes. I know that once I get going, I'll be ok. It's just the starting.

Debby led a quiltalong not long ago with a Flickr group I belong to; she has loads of good information on her blog, http://higheredhands.blogspot.com/. Do a lookup on Stop Drop and Roll to browse her terrifric how-to's.

Debby Brown is Amazing and is connected to the LQS that I bought my HQ Avante from. (She actually lives in my area) The 2 day Long Arm retreat I attended was fabulous! If you ever get a chance to take a class from her... Run... Don't walk and sign up as soon as you can.
