Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie to quilting and can't get the hang of FMQ.
I saw a Handi Quilter II in a magazine and was wondering how many of you out there have one or have used one? What are your thoughts on it. is it worth the money to buy one?

Thanks for your help

Several women in my guild have them and they all love them, use them, and do beautiful work with them.

See if you can get to a big show and try one out.

I have one I bought to use with my Bernina 150 QE. I also bought the handi handles (which aren't available anymore) for the speed regulator and handles. It works fine, the problem is the throat space on my Bernina is only about 8 3/4 inches. This means you don't have much room to quilt. I have seen them for sale second-hand for far less money. A lot of quilters move on to a longarm setup. I did, I bought my Tin Lizzie 18 and am saving the Handi Quilter II for my DGD.

I just bought one about 6 monthes ago. I am looking for a machine to use for it. I was thinking a Juki98Q or a Janome
1600 series. I got my Handi Quilter 2 off of ebay for $300.
I thought that was a good deal. It is like new and still in the box.

You might be able to rent time on one in a local quilt shop. I took a class this past Friday and it was excellent.

You will find the size of your sewing machine throat area will determine if you really like the set up. You will also need an area that is about 14 feet long to accomodate the length.
