joyce, there are so many ways to add the binding it would be impossible to cover them all here. i recommend you start by going to hgtv.com and search on quilt binding. several episodes of simply quilts offer great tips that are easy to follow.
also, you can simply google on "binding a quilt", "quilt binding" or something like that. lots of other links will lead you to helpful information.
