I found a bunch of references to hankie quilts on this board, sometimes spelled "hankie" sometimes "hanky". There are awesome examples of the butterly quilt!

The quilt I made is not made from hankies but it could be, I have it posted on the tutorial list under envelope quilt. Hope it can be of some help.

I forgot to include the name of the book! It is "Hanky Panky Crazy Quilts"' by Cindy Brick.

Link below shows photos of type of quilt this book will make.

I have seen the handkerchiefs made into butterflies in a quilt. I also saw the envelope quilt that someone posted yesterday that I thought would make a really pretty hankie quilt.

What a soft, delicate-looking quilt! I love vintage hankies! They remind me of my Mother (who always had a fresh one in her purse). Do they still even make ladies hankies?

Just wondering if there is a free pattern to go by for folding the handkerchief?
