My DIL and I had the best shopping experience yesterday at Hancock Fabrics in Davonport, IA. It was a 2 hr drive and worth every minute of it. We got drapery fabric (54% off) and braiding (50% off) for 3 windows, fabric to cover 6 dining rm chair seats (clearanced to $3/yd from $24/yd), seven 1/2-yd-pieces of calicos prints (50% off), and another 2 yd print. And the nicest lady ever to help us!!! Grand total $150!! And we topped it off w roast turkey/drsg dinners at the Iowa Machine Shed.
It was a perfect day!!!

So good to hear a positive review of a vendor.

Me too. My problem lately is I have to stay away. They're having too many great sales and I'm committed to sewing from my stash. I went in for sewing machine needles a while back and came out with $65 worth of fabric. All 50% or more off but I still felt guilty.

I don't spend that much usually. The drapery and chair materials were my treat for son and DIL who are about to move into the new house they've built. DIL is happy to do the sewing.

Oh, how I miss the Machine Shed. Every state should have one.
