I thought it would be cute to creat a block that looks like a 3D box with a bow. Then I saw the 10 minute bowtie thread (gee THANKS guys - ANOTHER quilt to try lol) and thought it would be fun to make some blocks with that for Christmas. Then I wanted the bowtie block to look like a Christmas package! So I don't have EQ and was wondering if anyone combined and drafted the pieces so i don't have to hand calculate? I hate math.....see the drawing I did to get the idea....

Try quilterscache, I think they have a block called package or present, might give you ideas.

I think it would be a cute idea. I don't know how to use my EQ7 good enough yet to design that, but you would have to start with the side pieces, then figure out the top with that same shape since all three of the diamonds are the same size. Now you have me very curious. I did figure out on the EQ how to do your avatar picture. So I might be able to figure that out somehow. I'll give it a try, but can't promise anything. I'll keep my eyes on this thread to see if someone who knows what they are doing on EQ comes up with it first.

I like the idea, simply drawing on graph paper and adding in seam allowances and you have it!!! love to see the finished block - with the right color combinations it would be real cool.

Well I do have the tumbling blocks on EQ, but going brain dead right now. In the morning I'll see what I can come up with for the bow. There has to be come thing that's easy enough to do. This also gives me some practice using the EQ. I'm assuming Christmas colors. And about how big would you like it. Let me know. Heading for bed now though.

I have something made up on EQ, but I still have to figure out how to get it to here. Have to run now, so I'll try a little later.

that is awesome thanks. The blocks can be anywhere from 6 to 8 inches. Any suggestions for colors would be great too. I'm worried that the sides will blend together and not look like a box.....
