Hope that makes sense!

It is a 45 degree angle. <wave>
60 degrees will make diamonds (have no idea how it work into a quilt block)
The 30 degree angle is an equilateral triangle ( all sides and angles are equal) <wave>

60 degree ones will make large hexagons. You sew them into half-hexagons (3 triangles) and then the half hexies into strips. Then sew the strips together. It's important to pay close attention to placement if you're using different colors so each of your finished large hexagons will be the correct color or combo of colors.

It is so easy, BUT...
There is always a "but" isn't there.
You do have to be careful at what design you put together. It works fine if you do square blocks, or hourglass blocks or even a zigzag pattern.
What does NOT work is a center square with "concentric" rings around it. Although you can lay it out that way, the "seams" don't come together right because allowance hasn't been made for the seam allowance.
Ask me how I know ....

I'm just blown away by all of the offers of help, your tips & what to do/not do.This has to be the best board on the net for finding info & meeting the nicest ppl!
I bought the 60degree ruler for making the OBW quilt. Not sure what else it's good for.
I have way too many rulers.Found the 45degree mark on my 6 1/2"sq & think it will work for cutting tube squares.
BTW....I had the nicest response from Missouri Quilt Co,with offer of more help if needed. That is soooo rare.Too many places adv on line, but seldom ans on line mail.
Thanks so much.I hope to return the favor someday.

and if you can find it, the show that Alex Anderson used to host, "Simply Quilts" had a show with the author of the book, and I think the show was called "Psychedelic Tubes" I just have a hard time finding stuff on the HGTV web site, and getting a link for it. Hopefully, this one will work:

It appears to show only two of the four segments for the whole show.

It is too bad that HGTV decided to go all planting and house decorating or whatever they are doing nowadays. I quit watching when Carol Duvall and Simply Quilts left ... and, they don't have much archived any more, either. If it weren't for RFD-TV, I wouldn't get any quilting shows at all! And, we have DirecTV ... for whatever that is worth, although <g> I do get Fox News, so it isn't all bad! LOL
Thanks
