Default Has anyone ever used Fleece as Batting?

I know a lady who received some fabric from someone she knows and in that fabric are several cuts of Fleece. She was wondering if you could use this fleece as batting? I told her that I thought it would be too slippery and it might make the quilt too hot. Any opinions? Thanks for any suggestions. Carolyn

Some use it as backing with no batting.

I used fleece as backing with no batting. I glue baste all my quilts and made sure to glue the top and fleece more closely than I usually do. I didn't have any problems with the fleece stretching. Just be sure to use WASHABLE glue.

I would think it would be fine. If you can use wool blankets, why not fleece?

I have used fleece as batting a couple of times. It worked fine. But the quilts were heavier than with warm and natural. For me it was easy to machine quilt

I've used fleece to back most of the baby quilts I've done so far. It makes for a nice and soft back! However, it's a pain to hand quilt, as I had to find out the hard way...

I found it easy to hand quilt. did about 35 kids quilts that way. No problem with it either.

I agree. I've used fleece as batting in a couple of quilts that I wanted to be extra-warm. As I machine-quilted them, I can't speak to the hand-quilting question, but I experienced no problems whatsoever. Easy as pie!

I have used fleece as a backing with W&N batting in the middle. DGD wanted it very warm to carry to football games. She played in the band.

One of my earliest quilts was a top quilted to a fleece blanket, which served as both the batting and backing. Very cozy, my youngest son used it for years, it stood up to weekly washings very well.
