I use the extra wide satin binding on baby quilts and they wash fine.

I made one of the granddogs a polar fleece blanket when he was a puppy and used the wide satin binding. I was just visiting there in CO and the blanket looks great. And it's been washed a lot!

I have used it for baby quilts - I know my daughter loved her "blankie" when she was little and would rub on the satin when she wanted to be soothed. I think babies or toddlers love the feel of it. I did not have a problem sewing it.

Wow, thanks for all the positive feed back. You quilters are a awesome bunch, just so helpful. Sadly I tossed both pkgs. of binding in their donation box. I'll know better next time.

I would go ahead with the satin. Baby quilts that get used a lot will wear out eventually, but that's okay. If fabric longevity were the only concern we would still be quilting with polyester.

I've used it and loved it. It went on very easily and quickly. I will use it again.

I really dislike sewing with satin. DGD wanted a satin pillowcase which of course I made her and it was the biggest pain.

When I was a kid, I thought satin binding was sooooo fancy--almost magical!
