I would leave them and sew them together. Maybe turn them so not all are together. Maybe sew them into a bigger square/Rectangle and put sashes between them and sew together. You should be able to come up with a way to finish it and make it look good. Just play around with them and see what you come up with. I'm sure it will end up looking good.

Not to be lacking in sympathy but ... just get busy with the seam ripper and get chain sewing! It's the thinking about it that's keeping you unhappy. Bet it won't take as long as you think!
I've looked at a stack of mending and dreaded it but two hours later it is done! Putting it off and contemplating the task takes longer than just doing it.

Wise Wise thought. Funny how that little statement is so freeing!
Once I was showing my less than stellar blocks to an expert quilting friend, look at all my lost points etc, I said. She took them and shook them back and forth in front of my eyes. "do you see them now?" Brilliant!

Well, another option would be to cut again at the seam lines, but then you will have smaller blocks and still have to sew them individually. Personally, I would just enjoy a little one on one time with my cute little seam ripper, Sally!

Why not cut the seam off of each one of those 6 layered squares? And then use them in something else, that takes smaller squares. Or, heck, just throw them away.
Oops! I posted this before I saw wildyard's post. I, too, would probably get busy with the seam ripper. But so much depends on mood and patience!

So happy you got them apart. You will be so much happier. I have put squares together and later saw that there were two layers on one of them. Once I ripped it out, but on one, I left the two layers of fabric there. You really couldn't see it as the fabric was a little thinner.
