Oh yeah, I found a pin in a quilt that I was machine quilting. I was fortunate that I didn't run across it while sewing. I actually found it while sewing the binding on. I felt this lump and started feeling around and realized that it was a basting pin. It was in an open area between lines of free motion so I put a very tiny slit in the backing and actually had to spread the pin open and wiggle it out. It took a while but I got it out and with a little hand stitching got the slit closed. Since nearly all my quilts are given away I wasn't worried about it. No one can even see where I mended the backing.

One more story. A friend made sleeping bags for her grandsons: my neighbors. One of the boys refused to sleep in his new sleeping bag. After a while, his mother asked him why he wouldn't sleep in his new sleeping bag from Grandma. He said, "There're bees in there." Mother looked and, sure enough found a pin. Pin was removed and Kevin slept in his new sleeping bag.
