Our town is having a book fair this week. I went yesterday and bought 72 quilting magazines for $5.00! Ninety-five percent look brand new! The oldest ones in the lot were from 1978. I went back today and picked up 15 diffrent hard back craft books for $4.00. Friday I stopped at a yard sale and picked up 7 flat sheets fro backing and etc for $5.00. The best find was friday, at a yard sale a lady was selling her soon to be ex-husbands grandmothers hand sewn quilts! I got 2 of them for $2.00 a piece! One is in perfect condition! Both are made from 30's and 40's fabrics. They cleaned up beautifully! The best one is double bed size and will be placed on guest bed when room is done. It made me sad to see them both in trash bags and cared for improperly.

Lucky you!

Where I live it is often cheaper to buy things off of ebay or on sale than to buy at yard sales! I have seen people asking $5 a piece for used quilting / craft magazines!

Way to go! Those quilts were the icing on your weekend cake - some people just don't know what they have.

I would guess that "soon to be ex-husband" sums it up about her feelings for the quilts. At least the quilts have found a good and loving home.
