Have you noticed a quality difference between older and newer fabricx?

And I was just thinking how luscious the fabric is from my local quilt shop. I have been collecting remnants for a long time and now that we moved and I go to the quilt shop on Fridays to a sew along and sometimes I buy yardage. Their stuff is yummy

I recently bought some Kaufmann and it is really nice. The same with Timeless Treasures Soho and Northcott solids. Has such a soft hand. Other brands, I have noticed a change. They are lighter, thinner and tend to ravel. Maybe it is where they are manufactured as I know Kaufmann is made in Japan. Some batiks are thinner for sure as I am doing an all-batik project. I notice a stark difference in the weight from the time period they were purchased and I have only quilted for 5-6 years.

Yes, my older fabrics seem to be thicker and of better quality than my newer pieces. They are all quilt shop quality so apparently the fabric isn't being made the same old way anymore. Also, clothing has gotten thinner, I noticed it when I took my grand children shopping for summer clothing. I shop for myself at Nordstrom's and I noticed even their clothing is thinner. Of course the prices didn't go down on any of these things.

I agree, the newer fabrics seem to be thinner, even some batiks are inferior quality. But then, the older fabrics have a tendency to have a polyester added in. I acquired a friend's mom's stash when she passed away and most were blended fabrics.
