Default Have you tried to make your own color catchers?

I found instructions on how to make your own color catchers using non-woven stabilizer, salt and hot water. Has anyone tried doing this or any other method to make your own color catchers. Do they work as well as store bought ones?

Since they are under $4 for a box of 24, I'd rather buy them.

Big Lots have the color catchers for $2.50 for a box.. I'm not sure it's worth making it myself..

Has anyone tried this with darker colors and does it work? Sounds great if it does. Still seems like buying them is better and I am sure of these even in hot water.
