    Washing out the Sizing Before Appliqueing

    Are you making your own applique pieces? Do you wash out both the applique fabrics and the backing or just the backing. Of course, with laser-cut applique pieces, you couldn't wash them before fusing. Thanks, Fran

    I have done man applique quilts using Steam A Seam and my Viking Rose has a stitch #17 that ever 3or 4 stitches takes a nip to the right, 3-4 stitches, nip to left, etc. I use YLI Wonder invisible thread with my walking foot around the applique piees, so the applique comes out looking like it was hand stitched. I've even gone around applique with colored thread with tat same stitch.

    I think if I remember correctly that most of Edyta's appliques are batiks which will ravel less than regular cotton
