Default Crazy Chinese Fire Alarm quilt going to be made at Boys and Girls Club

My friend and I have been teaching a sewing class at the Boys and Girls club each week. We wanted them to learn how to use a machine, safety, and sewing straight lines. We have anywhere from 4-11 children each week which keeps us really busy with 2 machines. Sandy and I decided on a new quilt using up our scraps. We are going to have a 14 or 15 inch foundation block with a middle piece to start. Then each kid picks a scrap, and then they sew it on the foundation piece building this block. When they have finished with one scrap they go get another, and so on. This should be fun since nobody just sits around and waits for the machine, and they get to pick and choose what they want. What do you guys think?

how nice of you and your friend, I wish I had time to help some kids. I still work full time and my daughter and gbaby moved back in so I stay pretty busy.

Thank goodness we only do it for 1 hour on Tuesday. I too have full time job and my daughter and her little 3 month old live with us too. I love having a baby in the house again. It rocks. I don't have to get up with him at night though......LOL It is really exhausting to teach these children, however we are just doing it til May 1 and then we stop for the rest of the year.
