Default Heat Set Crayon Blocks

I'm sure this has been covered before, but I am in a bit of brain fog since my DH died 3 months ago. I am hoping some one will give me the basics again. I am making a wall hanging using the crayoned hand print of Olivia's class mates. Three year old Pre K. We'd done the hand prints and now I am ready to heat set. I can't remember what I put on top of the crayoned blocks. I think I use a dry iron, right? Do I use paper towels?
Thanks for all the help.

Paper towel would work. My mom used paper from grocery bags. Yes, a dry iron. If I understand the process, you want to absorb wax and leave dye pigment behind.

Paper towels or grocery bags will work. Use a hot iron and press the daylights out of the image. Good luck

Don't forget to protect your ironing surface as well with an old towel as the grease will stain it from the crayons.

Our group uses the cheap plain drawing paper from the Dollar Store. Just place a sheet of the paper over the picture and use a dry iron to heat seat. Don't reuse the paper.

You have my sympathy/ Yes, use a few layers of paper towels above and below the crayon you are setting. Dry iron.
