After reading as much as I could find on this site about printing quilt labels on my printer, I did it. I didn't have any of the pre-made papers, so I ironed freezer paper onto my fabric, and put it through the printer, it came out great. I ironed it with a hot iron for as long as I felt I could safely without scorching it. Is that all I need to do before I sew it on my quilt? Should I test it in some water? Thanks for your help.

I'm like Dawn...don't know.
I make my labels, usually embroider them. Then I use a little Heat N Bond Lite on the back of it and iron it down. Just enough to hold the label in place while I sew it.

I am glad to hear that the freezer went through you printer ok. I've been wanting to try that, but didn't want to damage my printer. I would make two labels and test one as if you were washing your quilt.

Did you treat the fabric with Bubble Jet Set?

No, I didn't have any and no where close by to buy it. I also didn't know anything about it except what I read here. There were several people who had done labels as I described so I figured I'd give it a shot. Now I'm trying to decide whether to try wetting it to test it.

I would definitely test it. I don't think regular printer ink is going to hold up to washing unless you set it.

My sister printed on fabric using freezer paper and forgot to set the ink with "bubble jet set" and most of it washed out. Check your local quilt shop for Bubble jet stuff. Class I took said to prewash fabric with it and then after printing, let it set for so many hours and then soak in the other solution.

I have printed out labels with the freezer paper, but I used both the preset solution and the setting solution.

Well, I took your advice and tested it before sewing it down. The ink ran all over. I'm so glad I didn't sew it on first. When I searched this board, there were quilters who said that the only thing they did was heat set with a hot iron, but it didn't work for me. Live and learn.
