Hello Kitty Janome
I am thinking about getting a Hello Kitty Janome for my GD for Christmas. She ia almost eight. Has anyone else here gotten one for their young ones? Did they like it? Did it work well? Any problems? Would it be a good machine to start with and still last a few years? Does it have a quarter inch foot and walking foot to fit?
Thanks

Many before you have reconsidered the Hello Kitty for the Janome Jem ... same size, more options, and a machine that ultimately will last her for a long time.
Perhaps compare the prices of the two, with the cute factor of Kitty and the features of the Jem. Besides, you would have a machine to take with you to classes etc.
You could "cute" it up with some stickers/decals ... if that is part of the concern.

Yes this! We have the Janome Jem Silver with the quilt package, table and carrier. Many of my 14 kids have learned to quilt on that. currently I have a 16 yr old girl, 11 yr old boy and 2 eight year olds using it to quilt on. When DD 22 stopped by and needed a gift for a baby shower, she used it to make an I Spy quilt. We all like it and it is great to quilt on and does an awesome free motion stitch.

I am not sure which one you are talking about as there are I think three H K Janome machines but I bought for my daughter the one with the most stitches here is the link:
http://www.amazon.com/Janome-18750-C...me+hello+kitty
I also bought her a 1/4" foot (she doesn't need it because she wants to learn garment sewing but my quilty instinct kicked in...lol) and walking foot and an extension table and she loves it. She has been sewing a lot of blankets for charity (will post pix of them in a different thread soon) and she took one class from a lady who is teaching her how to sew and has a class next week to sew her first skirt :-)
