Hi Everyone,

I have been asked to make a quilt for someone and I want to give them some pricing information. But before I do that I have to figure out what the materials will cost.

Can someone please help me figure out the yardage I will need to make a Dutchman's Puzzle quilt in Queen size?

I figured I would do 7x8 with 3" border on the sides, 3" flying geese border on the top and bottom followed by a 3" border like on the sides.

With that I will need 56 blocks.

Do you know how much fabric I will need to make those blocks?
I thought between 2.5-3 yds of each color would do?
Is that right?

Please help!

Is this what you had in mind?

I made all of the components different colored, as I wasn't sure how many different fabrics you would be using.

Everything except the beige border on the sides (makes it bigger than the batting will be)

But yes, thats pretty much what I want!!!!

Three different colors.

I'm glad Alma has answered your question.. because I have wanted to tell you for the longest time that I think that crazy little bird, or whatever it is, that jumps up in your Avatar is one of the funniest things I have ever seen.. I can sit and watch that guy for as long as I spend on the forum.. which is w-a-y t-o-o long.. I'm not sure what fascinates me, perhaps the feathers the wiggle on the top of his head.. . but I LOVE him.. I want to take him home.. I want him to be on my alarm clock!! Can't you see him saying.. "Good Morning, Sunshine" just before he falls back down to his trampoline... He's histerical!!
