Help with Changing Pattern Sizing
I'm making a Churn Dash with instructions from Fons & Porter in 2011. The finished blocks will be 6". The cutting instructions call for some squares @ 2 7/8". Way too picky for my skills (aka patience). How would I convert the instructions to work in halves/quarters/whole numbers? There must be an easier way and I'm sure someone out there knows this answer. Thank you for helping.

the 7/8 measure always comes in to play when you have HST's. i always round it up to the next whole number. it actually helps to end up with the correct size after you trim them nice and square.

And the bonus of trimming is that you get nice square squares instead of the wonky-ness that can set in when doing HSTs!

I always round up too. Just make it simple. No matter WHAT size of HST you are making, you always have to add that nasty 7/8" for the seam allowances of the two HST you will create. Most likely, you will need to trim them down to 2.5". They will be nice and accurate.
