Default New York Beauty fabric question

So I am going to do a NYB, I have my patterns for paperpiecing. My question is how many different colors/fabrics should be used? I love the ones with a lot of colors, but I can never tell how many.

Most of the NYB quilts that I've seen have been very scrappy, meaning a lot of different fabrics....at least 50 to 100.

The last one I did had over 60 fabrics in it. I collected batiks for quite awhile .. then had alot of left over. If you know a quilter try to do some swapping to get the variety you are looking for.
