I am in search of a book that perhaps shows a newbie how to "practice" drawing designs that you want to create with your longarm machine....such as feathers. I've read so many posts that say the best way is to practice drawing on paper first. My drawing skills are not the best.....not the worst either.....but, I know if I had some directional lines, starting points, I could get a handle on this. I've watched some of the videos on You-Tube, etc....but they are always so fast that I can't always tell where and how they started. Do such quilting books exist? I want to do free-hand instead of following a pantograph.

The Pajama Quilters DVD has some good pointers. She suggests using a whiteboard.

As a newbie longarm quilter, I'd like some suggestions, too! I've heard of Linda's Electric but not Pajama Quilters. I'll have to google that one. Looking forward to other posts on this subject.

I took a class with Pam Clarke at last year's Houston quilt show. She is amazing! She has several books that show patterns you can draw. Her web site is www.homestitches.com. I bought about ten of her books and highly recommend them. If you ever get a chance to take a class with Pam Clarke, take it. It's the best longarm class I've ever had!

Along with Pajama quilter, try http://www.kimmyquilt.com/
Kim Brenner, she has a great DVD that covers everything from loading and more.
