Default help finding pattern

I had someone approach me about making a quilt for them; she asked for it by the name of Nautical Star. I did a little research on Google and couldn't find one by that name. Has anyone heard of a quilt by that name? I would appreciate any help you could give. Thank you.

did she mean Mariner's Compass perhaps ? I have done a Swoon quilt with a Nautical Theme personally but I doubt that is the one she was talking about LOL

The second posted site (flickr) almost looks like a S&W. Both are very pretty

I think the only way to know what your customer wants is to ask them to show you an example. (And if they show you the first example that SlightlyOffQuilter found, run for the hills, LOL!)

That first quilt posted by SlightlyOffQuilter is amazing. I can't even begin to imagine how many hours went into making that quilt. Hand pieced and hand quilted!?!?! Stunning!

Agreed - I don't think anyone could pay me enough to make that quilt for them!

I did message her after seeing the differing types of patterns under the same name, and I asked her if she knew what she wanted or if she had a picture. I think we may need to work together pretty closely to get it as she wants it.

google images of a Nautical Star. It is a standard 5 point star but each point is split into two colors.

You can find paper pieced patterns on line. Here is a 10" one http://hotpinkpeonies.blogspot.com/2...lock-five.html

Edited to add, that Judy Mathison's book Mariners Compass Setting a new course gives very good instructions on how to draft one as well as draft any Mariner's compass. If you are interested in making Mariner's compass quilts that book is a must have.
