Leave large strip to start with and large strip to end with. Leave plenty of space between them. Take your binding and lay a piece across your quilt, right in between your start and finish spots. Lay your binding out completely flat. Pin in place. Bring one side of the binding up and over the pinned one. Cut it off right at the edge of the pinned one. Then take the other side of the binding, bring it down and over the pinned one, and cut it off right at the edge. Now you can remove the pinned on piece. Now comes the tricky part. Laying your binding down, pick up each end. Place them together like you would if you were going to sew a straight seam. Then turn them one quarter turn. Pin together, to make sure you will be sewing them correctly. They should fit together perfectly and no one will ever know where you finished your binding. Sorry I don't have any pictures. If you have any questions, just write to me.

There is a 3 part video tutorial here that really helped me learn how to bind.

I love the glue-basting trick!
